What it does

ClipStitcher joins .mov, .mp4, and .m4v files in the order you list them. When the clips share a video format, audio format, and rotation, it copies the streams straight through, so nothing is re-encoded. When they don’t, it re-encodes them into one .mp4 and says so in the status line.

Joining uses AVFoundation, which ships with macOS.

How to use it

  1. Drop clips onto the window, or choose several at once. Order is the join order; use the arrows to rearrange.
  2. Choose an output file. The save panel is required: a sandboxed app can only write a file you pick.
  3. Stitch. A progress bar runs while the join is in progress. Cancel stops the join without replacing a finished file.
  4. Play the result, or show it in Finder. On failure, the log expands with the reason.

Requirements

  • macOS 14.0 or later
  • At least two clips in .mov, .mp4, or .m4v
  • Other containers, including mkv and webm, are skipped

Support

If a stitch fails, the log panel has the error from AVFoundation. Common causes are a file with no video track, a destination that isn’t writable, or not enough disk space.

If the status says the clips were re-encoded, they differed in video format, audio, or rotation, so a straight copy wasn’t possible. Matching clips from the same camera or export preset usually copy through.
